I have a couple of new things to tell you about. First, my son, Highway Rex, did you see what he has done. I am so proud of him. WOW! He has really been lucky so far. He has entered six field trials and won four and placed in two of them.
Second, How about the new book that D. Hoyle Eaton has written called "The White Knight Story." Fred came down to the kennels and read it out loud to us. When Hoyle told us what happened to his first dog, Collie and again when we got to the last part of the story of White Knight I had to walk down to the end of the kennel, I just couldn't let Fred see the tears running down this tough old dog's face. Then I got so excited when he was telling about the Trials and things I started running looking to see if I could locate some birds. I laughed, when he told about his first training a horse. You didn't know dogs can laugh; well when you do something silly, just look at our eyes. We laugh with our eyes you know. And such great people Hoyle has had the pleasure of working with over the years, they are in there too. Oh! It is really a great book. I hope Fred comes back and reads it to us again soon.
I am still busy with the work of running a kennel with several Dams, that I may not have the time to answer the phone calls or your e-mails. However, that is another task that I have trained Fred to do, so he returns most of my calls and e-mails. But Fred has been so busy working with Rex he sometimes is later answering my fan mail than he should be. I will speak to him about that, so keep those fan e-mails coming in to old Dan. Don't send so many to Rex, it might make his head swell.
